Joe Kim is an independent film professional and the Festival Director/Programmer for the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival (PAAFF).
He founded PAAFF as a nonprofit in 2008 to showcase and celebrate films by and about Asian Americans to general audiences in Philadelphia. He manages the planning and implementation of all aspects of the film festival from programming, marketing, media relations, sponsorship and operations management. PAAFF completed it’s 4th year in November 2011 and major sponsors include HBO and Comcast.
In 2007, Joe served as the Campaign Media Director for Philadelphia City Councilman David Oh and directed and produced campaign videos as well as commercials which aired locally on NBC, ABC, CBS and Fox in over 1.7 million households.
As an independent film professional, Joe’s work has been screened in film festivals nationwide and on MTV Chi. He has also served on the jury of the Philadelphia Cinefest (2009 & 2011) and is a co-producer of the upcoming independent feature film “Remember O Goddess“.
